Confused by wilton amounts - help required please

I was looking at this site:

http://www.wilton.com/cakes/making-cakes/baking-party-cake-3-inch-pans.cfm

to try and gauge how much cake batter i will need to make a 14" x 10" rectangular tin.

Call it overtired, PMS, what ever but for the life of me I cant figure out if the number of servings column (1 layer) means one layer 3" high or if it is 1.5" high?

Does anyone know please?

Rectangle tins - go by total measurements, so same batter as 12" square(total inches 14 + 10 is 24, so 12 x 12) servings are 48 as cake is specified "3 inch deep" = layer is 3" high, that is how I would read it. Hope that helps!
