Amazing cakes, Your cakes are such masterpieces! Like the other comments, if your in Sydney & ever decide to teach, I will be there :)

Julie,
These are just stunning. You are my idol!!! Plus your piping is flawless. I've just started learning how to pipe and completely appreciate your work. Do you use a guide or do you do this freehand? Looking forward to seeing your next creation

Posted By Julesmcm 24 Jul 2010

Oh my goodness I'm actually embarrassed by everybody's comments!!! Yes, I am in Sydney, but honestly, to have some of you suggest that you would be happy to learn from me is very flattering, but I'm certainly NOT at that level! But thank you - I really am chuffed! :-)

Now to the questions, Chrissie, the font that I used for the board message was Lucida Handwriting.

Sweetexpressions, thank you so much! I must admit I LOVE piping! But there's no way I would trust myself to pipe the board message freehand - I would definitely stuff up the spacing! There was a very light imprint of the text underneath for me to follow. :-)

Thank you again everyone!

WOW!!! Your cakes are incredible!! I am in awe :)
Without giving away all your secrets can you explain how you did that bag of flour? I would also sign up for some classes ;)

Posted By Leonie 24 Jul 2010

Amazing cakes, yet again. You are incredibly talented. Well done. They are both just perfect.

Posted By Julesmcm 24 Jul 2010

Thank you again everyone for such lovely feedback! It is indeed very humbling! Brieme Cake, I have no secrets...the flour bag was made using an edible image! Definitely the only way to get it so real looking!
And I must admit, everybody's lovely comments about teaching have definitely got me thinking a bit! Hmmm...I wonder what people might like to learn! ;-)

Fantastic!!! Spotted the boobies yesterday on Flickr (left a comment) - they r the ones Im thinking I will try for my Dads and Brothers Bdays (a few days apart) next month - I boob each :P
Love the rolling pin cake - very clever design!!

Posted By love2bake 26 Jul 2010

ohhhhh Jules, if we are talking about what people would like to learn then I would love to learn how to carve and cover the carved cakes. Also, I have only covered 2 square's and although they didn't look too bad, my edges weren't really sharp & the fondant ripped slightly on my first attempt, so square's are also on my wish list. Piping messages onto boards would also be great (yours always looks perfect). This is just to name a few things I would love to learn from you, there is plenty more though! So, if you do want teach (keep thinking like this!), I will definitely be there!

Cheers V

Again, thank you so much for the feedback! And thank you to those who have suggested things they would like to learn! To be honest, I'm vaguely considering it (I think I'm still in shock that people think I'm worthy of teaching!!!) and as Bec pointed out, there's the TIME factor!!! My thoughts so far are that If I DO actually decide to go ahead with it, it might be better off to start off with simple short courses, for things like piping inscriptions, modeling figures etc, only because it wouldn't be quite as 'full on' as ganaching/decorating an entire cake...but then I guess people do like to go home with a decorated masterpiece! Hmmm....decisions, decisions!!!!
Thanks again for the feedback everyone! Much appreciated!!!

Hi Jules,
I just had another question this time about the boobies cake, have you just used pyrex bowls or something similar to bake in? Would like to make a pair for a friends bday in a couple of weeks.
Thanks
Chrissie

Hi Chrissie!
I used a Wilton sports ball tin. http://www.foodutensils.com.au/sports-ball-cake-p-1749.html
I was going to use pyrex bowls until I got a second order for the same cake, so figured I might as well buy it...and I LOVE it!
